Laundromat owner Evelyn Wang is lost in the chaos of her everyday life. The trip to the tax office is unavoidable, but while she and her family are visiting the tax inspector, space and time suddenly dissolve: She herself and all the people around her suddenly lead other lives in parallel worlds. Evelyn discovers that she can use the abilities of her alter egos. This is also bitterly necessary. The washerwoman, of all people, is supposed to save the world from the evil that is brewing at the edge of the multiverse.
2016 begeisterte das Regieduo Daniel Scheinert und Daniel Kwan mit seinem herrlich absurden Erstling Swiss Army Man. Sechs Jahre nach dem Überraschungshit ist nun der zweite Langspielfilm des Regieduos da und wieder zieht es in Sachen Absurdität und aberwitzigen Einfällen alle Register, wenn Waschsalonbesitzerin Evelyn Wang durch Parallelwelten reist, um das ganze Multiversum vor einer Bösewichtin zu retten. Und so geht es atemlos von Welt zu Welt, mal ist Evelyn Martial-Arts-Kämpferin, mal hat sie – wortwörtlich – Wurstfinger. Zum Schluss überrascht EEAAO – wie auch bereits sein Vorgänger – mit viel Herz inmitten des Nonsense und überzeugt mit einer starken weiblichen Hauptfigur jenseits der gängigen Hollywood-Standards.
